The second in a series of photographs made of 'Sea plastic' found in and around the beaches of Penzance in Kernow (Cornwall) They are all eroded plastics or artificial substances but after being eroded by sea action and the pebbles on the beaches they take on a quality of erosion or distress that renders them 'other' Some look like ceramics others like natural forms. This particular piece of plastic seems to have undergone some melting process as well as erosion by the sea, the colour has saturated in places and been bleached in others. I remove a lot of plastic waste at the same time as I find these objects so that there is less plastic pollution in the ocean environment where it can enter the food chain, kill fish, birds, turtles and travel great distances, accumulating in mid ocean islands of trash. Buying a print will help me to clear more plastic and help animals in the marine environment survive and be healthy.
