Engineering Worker-turned-photographer Azahari Salleh has proven himself to be an artistic pundit despite being self-taught since he launched his career in 2009. With a vast experience in the editorial and commercial photography, Azahari has successfully put himself a cut above the rest in the ever challenging field of photography. Azahari attended a photography workshop organized by a well-known former Reuters photojournalist, Zainal Halim, on his self-titled Workshop: Basic Photojournalism III. In 2012, Azahari ventured the documentary photography that has led his travel to Chiang Mai in Thailand. He attended an internationally acclaimed The Foundry Photojournalism Workshop that had gathered some of the world's renowned photojournalists, including Ron Haviv, Maggie Stebber, Ami Vitale, Andrea Bruce, Paula Bronstein, James Whitlow Delano and Walter Astrada. During the workshop, Azahari had the opportunity to learn and listen some of the world's greatest photography tips and tricks by the three times World Press Photo recipient, Walter Astrada, through his workshop on the Better Reportage and Documentary. Later in the same year, Azahari participated in his very first photography exhibition, 'Mind Cleanse' at Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur, organized by KL FotoBom Asia in conjunction with the Guerrilla Photography Exhibition. 'Mind Cleanse' is a documentary exhibition on a monk's journey in attaining the ultimate vision of peace. During the following year, he exhibited some of his documentary photos for a group exhibition, 'My Name Is Kamil, I Love Football' at the Obscura Photo Festival in George Town, Penang. Currently, Azahari is working on a long-term documentary project entitled 'Fame' and 'Four Brothers'. While in June 2012, he joined a Local Editorial Publication as an editorial photographer with his new niche areas in the interior, architecture and food photography for the past three years. Later in 2016, he left Karangkraf to establish a photography practice together with his partners, to be named as VONA VISUALS. VONA Visuals is dedicated to delivering a professional photography service with a sense of unique and artistic touch in every single capture that will meet beyond the one's expectation and imagination.
