About The Artwork

Light Moves # 3 This series of three photographs were done in my studio in 1976, using Ektachrome color film that was shot 8,000 ISO and develop in Rodinal BW developer. It was then process in Color chemistry C-22 which made the film into a color negative. The grain made the image look like a pointillism image. when printed, much as artwork was done during the late 1800s. Now with photoshop this process can be done on the computer. My model, who was a dancer posed herself in various ways as if she was in a dream, against a dark canvas using only a hat for a prop. The shadows and light created a mystery feeling towards her. Image size: 15 W x 22 H Print size: 20 x 24 Limited edition: 15 prints, signed and numbered. Printed on Ilford Gold Mono Silk 270 gm. 100 per cent cotton rag

I grew up with photography as my father worked as a reporter/photographer in the late 1940s to the early 1950s, before he became involved in the aerospace industry. Through him I became fascinated with the magic of photography. I began to take photo classes in college and later attended Art Center College of Design, graduating in 1976. I had a small studio on Sunset Blvd through the late 1980s then did a trip to Thailand and decided to move there in 1990. Over the years I have worked for Habitat for Humanity, World Vision, and done assignments for The United Nations, Newsweek, Gamma Liaison, Getty Images. Animal Planet, Homeless International and other organizations in Asia.
