"Minnihaha"-Curling Waterfall Print

One of the most difficult things in my 50 plus years as a photographer is to title a photograph. My mentors taught me the photograph should stand on its own merit without a detailed caption. As an artist, you must learn and accept word like “no” and "a rejection for whatever reason does not fit out parameters at this time". In short, you have to have extremely thick skin. In my career I have done approximately 40 television shows, hundreds of radio shows, magazine articles, contributed to hundreds of hardcover and soft cover books, and lectured all over the world. The numbers would be astronomic so I won’t put them down. I'm very comfortable speaking, anyone who wants to shut me up all they have to do is say “what does this photograph mean?”, “what was your motivation for this image?”, and “why did you do it?”, the person asking those questions has now turned me into a brick. Honesty is the best policy, anything less than that is totally unacceptable. As we know, bullshit does not go uphill. If I had a choice, I would put photos up #1, #2, etc, with no caption, no description, no keywords, etc. Having said that, I also understand that I do not make the rules. Please understand, I don’t like the rules. I hope that makes sense to you?
