About The Artwork
This little work describes a woman standing and a child sitting. This is a one-off print on a broken porcelain plate fragment. Printing is done by transferring a painting made on the basis of historical photography from the family album. The ceramic fragment arrives frameless, it can be hung on the wall by a hook attached to it from behind. The porcelain is white and the painting is black with a gold Lester decoration on the edge of the plate. It is gold that fires in the ceramic kiln, special gold for ceramics. Ayelet Zer Sheinboim ceramic artist . In my work I use fractions of vases (shards) which I paint and print on them images that I take from my old family albums, landscape photographs and drawings of admired artists. I deal with issues of memory and belonging to different groups (like family, womanhood…). Working on small scale, holding the broken piece in my hand and painting or printing on it make me feel very intimate with my work and I hope that this feeling will pass to the viewer.
