Nelson Seascape - Limited Edition of 10 Print

I was in Nelson kayaking in the beautiful coastal blue-green waters. Nelson is truly one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand (and in that -it has a lot of serious competition...). The vineyards, the beaches, and the city itself offer a wonderful (unspoiled -and let's hope is stays this way) playground for New Zealander's and tourists alike. Now I know why people rave about the place -and I didn't even get to Golden Bay. Seriously -go if you can! #Sunspoiled. One of the things that I like about this image is that New Zealand is surrounded by water, and yet it doesn't really take "center stage" in any of the images that I've taken. In my shots, it's always about people and (islands) and their relationship to water -but this image is the main attraction in the photograph. When water does feature in a photograph it's usually as an "antagonist" -in this shot the water is the "hero" as it were. I love the color combination and the serenity of the shot, as the sea takes precedence over the sky. The horizon line bends downwards in the middle of the image, which gives an (almost) optical illusion that you're "in" the water. In the middle (left of center) you can't really tell where the sea ends and the sky begins. I love the azure blue of both the sea and sky and the green ripples in the bottom left. For me, it's a kind of reflection of where I'm at in my (most probably) my life's timeline. The "sea" of my past takes up just over half the panorama, and my future to be lived, the time I have remaining takes up about 40% of my total (expected) lifespan.
