About The Artwork

I love to use extreme close-up photographs to capture the beauty of the botanical world that’s often unseen or overlooked. I believe my intimate views of flora go beyond literal representation and evoke a visual playground or a relaxing meditative retreat from the concrete jungles we spend much of our time in. This is a close-up of a palm frond. It's available as a custom printed glossy type C print. Contact me through Saatchi for other sizes or substrates such as fine art papers, metal, canvas, wood, glass, or face mounting on acrylic.

Born in 1962 in Los Angeles, California, I became seriously involved with photography in high school in Riverside, California in 1978. I’ve been a full-time professional photographer since 1986 when I began my photographic career as a photojournalist, having worked for the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register among other publications. My commercial and editorial stock photographs have been published around the world. Now, for over a decade, I’ve specialized in intimate photographic views of botanical subjects. Ironically, these days I enjoy creating botanical photographs which show a unique perspective and impression of flora, rather than more purely documenting nature, as my roots would have led me to do. I’m interested in exploring the inner “landscape“ which emerges when getting extremely close to my subjects. Abstract, architectural, sensual and even whimsical, are some of the adjectives used to describe my botanical images. My images have been used by art consultants and interior designers for hospitality, healthcare, corporate, and residential design projects.
