About The Artwork

I am going back to early childhood experiences, growing up on a farm in Germany mid-20th century. All the food was grown, harvested and prepared on the farm. A far cry from haute cuisine but wholesome and sustainable. I question if the human race needs to go back to such simplicity and a less comfort/luxury based lifestyle to survive. I find beauty in the rawness of this subject, there's something biblical and ancient about this image. I've been there.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Born on a farm in Germany - came to England in 1969. Live and work in South London in a converted church hall. My Dad introduced me to cosmology and that was a strong influence earlier on. Now I use my own daily experiences as an inspiration. I work with steel, chopping industrial angle section into random bits and welding these differently angled pieces into boxes which are freestanding or hang off the wall like giant birdboxes. It makes them appear human, vulnerable, chaotic, even funny. Parallel to that I carve marble sculptures in Italy. In 2006 I won a residency to learn to carve marble in Pietrasanta in Italy for three months. This material has opened up a perfect counter balance to steel. I carve away and reveal rather than construct.
