About The Artwork
this 35mm colour negative film photography piece was shot in Naples during an artist residency that I did in 2018. Napoli is the city where I was born but since I moved to London when I was very young I never had the opportunity to produce of body of work there, exploring its cultural and visual complexity. This work is part of a series that explores popular culture, esoterism, belief system, death and social documentary, and how these aspects are embedded in people's life and the place they live in. This research project has been shot with an analogue camera 35mm film and it is an on going project.

Her body of work incorporates intimate yet universal experiences such as loneliness, abandonment, fear for emotional nakedness and failure. In touching on these topics, she aims to create a collision between opposite languages: the unreal and the imaginary, the document and the oneiric, the personal memory and the collective, aiming to trigger reactions by invoking primal and visceral emotions. She employs the photographic medium to create visual access to the many different readings of existence. Her work often addresses elements of sexuality, mysticism, body language and nature, to create a tense narrative that provokes and relives at the same time.
