About The Artwork

Zwerg (normalising things) is a small installation and was created from old things from the artist's childhood. The image was part of the show "Replay", 2022. Old and current plastic figures served with sweets or children's menus found their way into the productions. These figures were the starting point of a journey - from innocent children's play to everyday adult life. Through simple manipulation and combination, the objects were led into a new world. A world full of subliminal meanings, dangers and doubts. It is as if the ideal world is transformed into new values and forces. Fear, anger and incomprehension emerge from the initial security and dissolve into dystopian thoughts. The photographic staging blurs perception and allows the subjects to oscillate between somber and luminous brightness. Limited Edition (6), signed and numbered at the backside. The original print is mounted behind acrylic glass and includes fixed hanging hardware. (Size: 50x70 cm.)

The starting point for many works are often collages that serve as free association templates for themes and subjects. In these collages, the glossy motifs of magazine culture are disrupted. These dualistic, complementary worlds create space for diverse interpretations. On this basis, multi-layered, expressive drawings and images are created in a second work step. Current photo and video installations are about the search for further meanings that elude the objects at first glance. Simple manipulations and alterations of everyday objects, plastic toys, or odds and ends expand the space for new levels of interpretation. Often these media works are supplemented with text and sound to open up further levels of interpretation.
