Simple things combine their inner energies to balance. A balance that lets argue about their usefulness and a very own beauty . Manfred Haupthoff shows us images of things, made with a simple, lensless analog camera obscura naturalis. An uncertain veil lies over the photographs, a gauzy misty layer: the blur triumphs over the contour - we exist in the blur. The subjects Haupthoff scans in this series are uncluttered; the world he discovers for us in the process is small; the frame he sets doesn't venture to vast horizons-but it's interesting to see how comb and ball, tool or vase can detach the viewer's mind from reality. Haupthoff is absolutely a photographer of the monochrome . Here Im focus everyday objects, of which the viewer has no idea whether they are waiting for people or are freed from them, whether they dream of their own usability or are finally relieved of it. From my series "Simple things". Taken in 2020. Limited vintage print. The photography is masterfully printed on analog ILFORD baryt paper. A white border of 3 cm is obligatory. Embossed stamp in the lower white border, on the right with the individual limitation number. Signed by the artist on the back of the photograph.

Essence of my artistic life: I am and remain curious and always ready to go new ways in photography. Essential projects of the last years are my series "Momentum" which captures the timeless spirit of cities, landscapes, lonely and hidden places and my series "Heimstatt" which shows the timeless living spaces, dreams and places of people without bringing the people involved into the picture. All my black and white camera obscura photograph are also a small reminder of Nicéphore Niépce who in 1826 made the world's first ever photograph with a camera obscura in an over 8 hour exposure.
