Michiel Brink was born July 26th 1949 in Scheveningen, The Netherlands. He studied art at the Academy of arts and technical science in Rotterdam from 1970-1976 in the directions monumental art and graphic art. In 1974 he founded Rotterdam Art Asylum (Rotterdams Kunst Gesticht), designers of environmental art and editors of art & poetry. In 1991 he started a career in the printing industry as graphic designer. In 2003 he started to make mosaics in Rotterdam Charlois and 2004 founded hogeDRUKgebied, at first a graphic art studio, and later also a place for poetry and music.
