She firmly grounded him in classical, figurative, impressionistic, modern and post-modern artists and their techniques, materials and histories. Mark was raised in the tradition that fine art is a cultural linchpin and one of the hallmarks of civilization. An essential aspect of life, Mark was taught that art is a tool to cultivate thought and dialogue between peoples.
