Tiger Tail Print

Whenever I was studying at LSU I became fond of printmaking quickly. It was something I had never done before, but I was so interested in the process. Tiger Tail was my first ever woodcut and experience ever in printmaking. For the first project my professor had the class get into groups. She gave each group a photo of a tiger that we cut into a grid so that each student had a "piece." My group had Mike the Tiger, the real life school mascot, depicted inside his pool. I was given the tail that was just barely sticking out of the water. I used the image being mostly water to my advantage. I used every tool in my set to test the function of each and really concentrate on mark making. You can tell there's a difference between the tail and the water, however as you move into each section of the water, it's styled slightly different.
