About The Artwork

"Braids" "Girls braided braids!..." A braid was once an important element in a girl's life. Braids indicated social status. * Before marriage a girl braided only one braid, and this corresponded to her status - in search of a groom. If a ribbon was plaited into the plait it meant that the girl was waiting for matchmakers. If there were more ribbons it meant that all formalities were fulfilled and the wedding was coming soon). * After marriage one could wear two braids, they symbolized vitality and fertility. A maiden's braid represented innocence! A trimmed braid was a great disgrace! Hair was practically never cut before. Except for monastic tonsures or customs associated with weddings or the death of husbands in some regions. It was also forbidden for a woman to let her hair down in front of strangers! * In my work, the braid is a kind of bridge between the spiritual life and the outer shell, an anchor that holds in the sea of life and gives hope. And white is a symbol of purity and freedom. * "The girls braided their plaits..." The first works in a new series. * The price is for a set of two pieces.

Oly Miltys. The sculptor. Ceramist. The main direction of the work is figurative sculpture. Born in Leningrad in 1973. I currently live and work in Belgrade (Serbia). I don't have a specialized education. I studied everything on my own, working a lot with the material. Since childhood, she was fond of drawing and painting. In 2015, she became interested in artistic ceramics. Ceramics attracted by its plasticity and the ability to work with both color and shape. In my works, I like to use the texture of the material to enhance the image. I have a wide range of interests, I work a lot and experiment with materials. I like to work in different styles and techniques, within my material. This helps to express the idea and nature of the work as much as possible. I am inspired by challenging tasks and the beauty that baked clay can give! I like to create works in series. They seem to tell a story, complementing each other. And I try to achieve deep detail. It helps to create character and emotions. The transfer of mood makes the images amazingly vivid and unique. Man and his archetypes are the main characters in the stories of my sculptures. Even animal figures have the invisible presence of a person, telling his story.
