Gloria Romae (For The Glory of Rome) was inspired by the painting of Lionel Royer, "Vercingetorix throws down his arms at the feet of Julius Caesar ". 1899. I loved the pose in the painting of the victorious Caesar. So I set out to reproduce it in a three dimensional sculpture. I decided the pose would be just as impressive against a background of Roman brick and painted columns, as was the Roman style. Solid bronze and a marble base, this piece comes in at nearly 50 pounds (26 Kg).
