Star Pattern Bowl Print

Red Alder Handmade, one-of-a-kind excellent display piece, or fruit bowl finished w/ food-grade tung oil made by Zach LaPerriere Sitka, Alaska 2018 display measures approximately 12 1/4" X 5" The striking pattern you see in this bowl is commonly known as a tree star. I was super excited to find this pattern in the tree after processing bowl stock for three days solid, because this is a very rare thing to see in an Alaska tree. When I shape a bowl I look for the best way to show the most features in the least space. I then refine the shape to give classic aesthetics. The elevated base and lipped rim on this bowl feel good in the hands and give an elegance on the table. This might just be my favorite kind of bowl, because it’s right on the line between functional piece and display art. It’s your choice: you can choose one or have both. This bowl will serve admirably on the mantel, for favorite items, as a salad or fruit bowl—or perhaps all of these over the course of its lifetime. People will ask to pick up your new bowl, so at worst, you might have to finish the salad or take the fruit out of your bowl. :) As with all of my work, because it is crafted from a single piece of wood, it will last for generations with basic care.
