Kevin Spears- born 1964 is an American musician, visual artist, inventor and musical instrument maker. Known internationally as one of the best kalimba players alive today, Kevin has been recognized primarily for his pioneering work in the field of music utilizing the kalimba (traditional African instrument) and experimental electronics although he is completely autodidactic. In addition to his gift as a musical artist, he is known by a handful of art collectors for creating striking assemblages reflecting his deeply spiritual reverence for materials found in nature. In the tradition of artists who create through visions and dreams, Kevin prefers isolating himself in quiet seclusion as he states: "For me the art of creating comes from the ultimate source, THE CREATOR. So it is during quiet moments whether walking in the forest, being up late at night or in prayer, that I usually see a faint mental picture of what i am to create and then it quickly vanishes. I am guided by this vision and then inspired along the way until completion." Kevin's artwork can best be characterized as organic, rough, raw and yet approachable, engaging and soothing. "In all that I do, in all that I create, it is to encourage and uplift humanity." -Kevin Spears
