About The Artwork
My work " Great White Kale" is carved from Colorado Yule Marble. I tend to botanical forms but am a direct carver , that is I start with a general idea of a form but while I am carving it I let the stone and my own instincts tell me what it is going to end up being . I became excited about he prospect of making a rippling moving form like a kale leaf from hanging out in my garden and I held that in my mind while carving . The dimensions and grain of marbling of the stone its self gave me the directions as to how to carve an elegant form from it. It is large enough to make an excellent garden piece and is intended for indoor or out door display.

Kathryn Vinson is a native Colorado sculptor living in Loveland, Colorado. Her work of the past 19 years is primarily delicate botanical sculptures made from stone, wood and copper. Each piece is carved and shaped producing one of a kind creations. She has permanent installation at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, won best in sculpture at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum annual exhibit, Women Artist of the West award winner, is a Signature member of American Women Artists, has exhibited twice at the National Sculpture Society show at Brookgreen Gardens NC, and the 2020 Colorado Governor's show and sale. She is currently represented by Wild Horse Gallery, Steamboat Springs CO.
