About The Artwork

Constructed from a mix of rebar, gas bottle bits, copper, steel, scrap steel and corten steel. The sculpture is shipped in pieces and easy to assemble - the body, legs, wings and stand to build it on. The copper 'needle' is adjustable. It has a nice wobble to it when pushed lightly. Has a height of 160cm and a foot print of 250cm diameter. Shipped internationally in a custom made wooden crate.

As an artist and sculptor I am interested in the form of a structure, the material and its texture. I work mostly in steel, ferrous and non ferrous metals, combining them to produce various sized structures and forms that convey the chosen subject matter in an exaggerated or morphed fashion. The process in which the sculpture is produced is an important factor for me, the various incarnations a piece may go through before I am satisfied, the resistance of the material, problem solving and experimentation. The way to combine various metals, their physical possibilities and the oxidation and aging process are an on going journey in my work. As a lover of nature my personal work is focused mainly on the natural world and humanities relationship within it. My work aims to illuminate our disconnection from the natural world, the commodification of nature and the impact our species is having on this planet.
