About The Artwork
A maiko (舞妓) is an apprentice geisha in Kyoto and Western Japan. Their jobs consist of performing songs, dances, and playing. My recent trip to Japan, especially Kyoto really left an impression on me. Kimono, flowers, kindness and zen where everywhere! This collage was made of Japanese journal paper, washi paper and a touristic map of my beloved Montreal! The hands and face are painted with acrylic paint.
