About The Artwork

This piece was created in 2022. Mixed media collage - paper, acrylic paint and ink, glue on paper - is 33 x 48 cm. It will be shipped flat packed due to the fragility and stiffness of the collaged elements. I've seen a lot of artists painting over print materials and became intrigued by this concept. Curious about the meaningful interplay between words and pictures. From this came my 'Collages' series, a little homage to a beloved writer, Anais Nin. The sculptures in the pieces are created from pages of her book 'Collages' and the German translation used here is titled 'Wien war die Stadt der Statuen'. In the garden of our memories stand statues representing past loves and amorous adventures. In this particular piece, the statue reflects the woman herself in the naked vulnerability of love and the free flowing dance of joy and abandon. Yellows for sunshine, joy, happiness and blues for open spaces, freedom and imagination.

Visual and mixed media artist. I returned to painting after a long gap, after suffering a stroke a few years back. What started as art as therapy has become daily, joyful creative play inspired by colour and light, The interplay between words and images intrigues me and I'm fascinated by women - their emotions, connection with nature, relationships with themselves and other women. I'm currently working on a series called 'The women' which celebrates sisterhood. I also explore abstract floral and landscape art. Seeking beauty and sparking joy as part of my personal well-being journey. As Matisse once said, 'There are always flowers for those who want to see them.' Originally from the blueberry laden Atlantic shores of Canada, I now live in Sardinia with my husband (the poet farmer) and Violetta (the cat muse).
