About The Artwork

Decorative composition in the upcycling trend CONSTRUCTION № 6 is a story about suffering, overcoming and joy. The artistic inspiration in this case was a cut-out by Henry Matisse. When, towards the end of his life, the artist, weakened after two operations, could no longer spend an hour at his easel, the cut-out technique enabled him to continue his creative activity. The juicy, lively collages made by the seriously ill painter fascinate in an almost childlike way with their masterful combination of colours and shapes. Following the path of creative overcoming of the finiteness of an individual story, I used my old leather handbags and gave them a new meaning and new life.

I create wall decorations. Small and big. Jewellike, abstract, expressive. I try to capture, interpret and present beauty as I see it. Materials used by me are wood, stone, leather, fabric, metal. I avoid plastic material, because I believe that what nature gives is the most beautiful. However, there are fewer and fewer natural resources on earth, and on the other hand we have at hand a wealth of sometimes no longer needed, but still beautiful things. I am absolutely convinced that old wood looks much better than new and recycled leather has its own unique history, marked by time, charm and character that new pieces lack. I rarely reach for brand new materials. I work under the slogans Upcycling art / Sustainable design / Slow fashion. I create in a conscious and responsible way. I am not afraid to quote. I give new life not only to materials but also to artistic visions. Sometimes my designs are a tribute to the great masters of 20th century art, sometimes I am fascinated by so-called primitive, naive art. The two main elements in my work are line and texture. I strive to maximise the visual effect with limited means of expression. I value the rigour of geometricity, I love simplified shapes and solids, I am rather in favour of homogeneity of materials. A wall decoration should stand out, attract attention, be dramatic, be jewellike. To achieve this effect, I rely on contrasting patches of colour, gold. I give my works a sculptural quality.
