Art Description

Collage: repurposed fabric and thread on Canvas, Plastic and Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric).

This piece is inspired by New York City: small alleyways, huge avenues, cracked pavement, glass skyscrapers, brick storefronts, vibrant graffiti, grand bridges and rusting fire escapes. The beauty of NYC is how effortlessly the nature fits in. It's always a joy to see the skyscrapers through the branches.

I enjoy using recycled materials in my artwork. I strive to make them all look like treasures, regardless of their origin. They must be undetectable in my work, transformed into something sophisticated and beautiful.

This piece is constructed from synthetic packing materials, machine stitched on to felt with outlines of NYC skyscrapers. The tree is hand stitched with a variety of variegated cotton threads. The art is mounted on stretched canvas with painted edges. Framed in a silver wood floater frame.
