About The Artwork

As print media appears to be coming to a close, I chose to deliberately revive and repurpose these extraordinary found images from several magazines and weave something completely new. One day, unfortunately, there will be no more magazines so these pieces will be very rare and cannot be duplicated unlike paintings. I chose a project to experiment with wallpaper, magazine clippings and found art to create an image and a story within an image. I have often painted strong women and gravitate towards that subtle strength in the forefront or backgrounds of my pieces. In this particular piece, I have a strong woman as the face of the bird leading. She appears as if she is headed into war with no fear. The bird often represents freedom and many sexual references are deliberately included to soften and complete the complex world of a woman. References of cherries and lips and including images of Dita Von Teese that encompasses all things that relate to the complex woman of today; both strong, sexual and soft with the floral imagery. So much going on here and it flows and compliments beautifully. I hope it speaks to many of you who come across this piece. Currently available. Message me to inquire further.
