This is one of a recent series I created digitally. I was inspired by graffiti art I saw in West Philly ( Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,USA) so I took a photo of the art and radically altered it. I also collect rare and vintage ephemera. The Chinese woman in the background is from a vintage card and she represents passive aggressive sexuality in women. The victorian girl in the foreground represents repressed sexuality. I digitally drew on the Victorian antique ephemera girl and also digitally drew a nude on the lower right hand corner as well as on the image itself. In graffiti terms I "slashed" the original graffiti I took a photo of it and I am re "tagging" it signing it by making it my own collage - all in digital form. Since I am a female and a feminist. The whole subject of "flirting" can get murky . Is flirting an invitation for something more or a playful stance? Women flirt to assert their power in many cases. I love collage & pop art and by mixing up imagery and doing everything in a digital manner, my goal is to make unique imagery.

Born USA. I started making art at the age of 21. I was admitted on the spot to the San Francisco Art Institute upon showing the Dean of Admissions my portfolio of Thurberesque Drawings with funny captions. Much of my artistic inspiration from my flea market finds ( vintage & rare ephemera), my huge unusual vintage, children's book collection, dance & burlesque performances, icons, symbols and images from all kinds of religions and my exploration into personal relationships. Although I have a distinctive style, I have explored many mediums- collage, painting, drawing, print making & fabric design, digital art. Some of my work is pretty and decorative but I also create ugly & raw paintings. These self therapy paintings are meant to be ugly and humourous . Kitsch, fashion, phtography, film, Children's art, German expressionism, Matisse, Dufy, Nolde, Redon as well as unknown outsider & folk+ art brut artists are have contributed to my style.
