I did a watercolor of Giselle in high school, and she has always been one of my favorites, so I decided to re-do her in my new medium of collage. And I have to tell you, I LOVE how she turned out! It's taken me awhile to decide to let her go, but I feel that someone is going to love her as much as I do. Besides, I can't keep every piece I do. This is glued to mat board and the fabrics used in it look so much better in person; it's not easy getting good photos of these! The clouds are actually a craft paper, and they have a slight sparkle to them. Her hair is made of yarn, and the sand is made of sandpaper. She's framed in a 1 1/2" deep matte black frame (shadow box), and she looks great in it. If you'd like a photo of her framed, please just ask!

Drawing and painting since the age of six, I have always been involved with art in one way or another. My mom (Arline Wagner) is an accomplished artist as well as my brother (Neil Blender), and their successes with their art have been inspirational for me. As a senior in high school I was super lucky to have been awarded two scholarships to the Pasadena Art Center College of Design where I got to attend four hour classes on Saturdays throughout the school year where we would draw from live models wearing costumes or bathing suits. It was probably one of the funnest art experiences that I've ever had, and it was a great intro to life drawing. Initially, I wanted to be a fashion illustrator, but I got sidetracked with this and that. Over the years I have taken a variety of classes ranging from drawing, painting, ceramics, and printmaking to stained glass, photography, computer graphics, and art history. And although I’m more of a graphic artist after years of classes, and doing freelance work, I have recently gotten back into fine art with my mixed media fabric women, and my part-time obsession of photographing all things having to do with liquid and light.
