About The Artwork
IT TOOK SOME TIME was inspired by a sculptural work of mine titled WHEEL CHAIR. In this work I tried to imagine a person who had to be in a wheelchair but some later no longer needed it. The sun breaks through the clouds burning them away and water appears to clean the space. The words below the wheelchair say, "it took some time but the shadow finally departed." Materials used to create the collage are acrylic paint, cut paper, oil pastel and charcoal on Bee super deluxe archival drawing paper.

Multidisciplinary artist Janet Orselli creates sculpture and assemblage, drawings, collage and site-specific installations. She’s had over fifteen solo exhibitions, including OK Harris Works of Art, New York City, Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston SC. Orselli has shown in numerous group exhibitions both regionally and nationally. She was awarded a national Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship and three North Carolina Regional Artist Project Grants. In 2018 she was selected as the Artist-in-Residence at 701 Center for Contemporary Art, Columbia, SC where she completed a body of work for a solo exhibition. A recipient of an MFA degree from Clemson University, Orselli teaches drawing and lives in Columbus NC.
