Ireland
. Anne Rigney is a mixed media abstract artist. Anne works from her studio in Roscommon, Ireland. She uses oils, acrylics and watercolour and inks on canvas and paper. She frequently incorporates collage elements into her work. Anne’s paintings are a reflection of the subject matter that interests her. Life is constantly changing and everything is in a constant state of flux. Speaking of her art, Anne says “I find my painting and art bring me into harmony with myself and the cosmos. Colour and the changing colours of nature are what interest me the most. Decaying leaves in the autumn, reflections in a pool of water or river which are constantly changing and full of energy- this is a reflection of the mind which is always busy and active, at the same time showing a calm exterior.” "Anne Rigney is a painter who frequently incorporates mixed-media elements, including collage, watercolour and ink drawing. Her abstract expressionist approach is anchored through a preoccupation with colour and line. Using photographs as source material, Anne documents her rural surroundings, tracking nuanced details, such as the reflection of light on water, or the movement of shadows across the landscape. She is particularly drawn to rivers and lakes, symbolic of flux and transition. Her painterly engagement is largely unconscious and instinctive; however, autobiographical aspects are present, tracing pivotal events in the artist’s life." Joanne Laws.
