About The Artwork
As a trained jeweler and find solace and inspiration in the realm of spontaneity. Collage, with its inherent unpredictability and endless possibilities, allows me to break free from the constraints of traditional jewelry-making techniques. The act of gathering and layering disparate elements, textures, and bright colours brings an exciting sense of spontaneity to my creative process. Through my collages, I look to capture the essence of moments suspended in time. The natural world and personal experience are a wellspring of inspiration. By combining drawing, mixed materials and often strips from Sicilian advertising boards I aim to create visual narratives that evoke emotions and spark curiosity whilst remaining intrinsically abstract.

I trained as a jeweller and silversmith graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 2007. Since graduating I have spent a lot of time with my family on the Italian island of SIcily where I have continued to make both jewellery pieces and art. The colours and landscape of the area directly inspire my work as well as the natural world and my own personal experiences and emotions. I naturally gravitate towards bright colours and textures; collage being my preferred medium. My mark making is free and intuitive over the texture to give a sense of spontaneity to the overall composition. I want my compositions to feel free, happy and unconstrained. I draw inspiration from artists such as Robert Motherwell, Anne Ryan and Robert Rauschenberg.
