About The Artwork

This work was also inspired by the woman who broke my heart in a way it was never ever broken before. Making this piece among others in a series of works dealing with my feelings and emotions helped me a bit to get over the hardest part of being heartbroken. From darkness into light, it took me and my emotions on a trip trough rock bottom and the highest purple skies one could ever imagine. Looking back on those couple of weeks I was feeling quite sick, I learned to not expect that others will give back to you, what you have been trying to give to them. I also learned to be less eager in trusting someone with my heart. Just like I realized a man and woman simply can't be just friends. I created this piece trough a combination of different techniques, more traditional and modern digital.

Sceafa (also known as Gus(tav) Knot) was born on October 26 in Groningen, (the Netherlands) in 1978. He went to High School in Assen at the Dr. Nassau College (Quintus) and later studied at the CIBAP (Creative School for Commercial Art and Advertising) in Zwolle. He received a BFA in 2001. After that, he traveled the world for other reasons. After traveling and meeting many new people and experiencing some really harsh situations, Sceafa relocated to a more easy place to reside. Sceafa lived and worked on French Saint Martin and Dutch Sint Maarten in the North East Caribbean for many, many years, until he relocated (after surviving Hurricane Irma) to his hometown Groningen in 2018. Since his first major exhibition in 2007 during the Anguilla Art Week, Sceafa’s work has been collected by art collectors all over the world. Some of his works have been on display in galleries and institutions throughout the world. Recently (2021) some of his work was the subject of a short exhibition organized by the Groninger Museum in corporation FC Groningen and Robey Sportswear. Sceafa is widely known for his iconic use of bright colors in the CMYK spectrum throughout his oeuvre of works. Some of his works also include the use of computer techniques and algorithms orchestrated by artificial intelligence scripts written by Sceafa himself. Next to that, Sceafa also designed numerous prints for famous fashion labels and brands. He also has designed the team jerseys / kits for several professional Football Clubs and National Teams throughout the years. Which has transferred his art into every day items of use as well. In 2014 Sceafa designed the black livery for the Sauber F1 team and in 2015 Sceafa created the BMW Art Car. Next to that, Sceafa became a producer of the infamous No Agenda Show (the best podcast in the universe) in 2020 (IMDB). Some might also know him from the radio as the ‘Man of Mystery’, as he acted the sidekick role in the infamous radio show WeekendRick on Radio Veronica every Sunday afternoon for a number of years. Sceafa has received a number of awards and honors in recognition of his work and achievements for the cultural sector. Notably, Sceafa received the Caribbean Art Award in 2008.
