Reminiscence Collage

The creation of this piece was an extremely personal one. I had been going through a very rough time in my life, and a lot had happened during this year to me that affected me mentally and emotionally. This piece was one of the things I could be proud of, as it was a good way to cope through what I was going through. A lot of my emotions were channeled into this piece. If you look closely, on the cardboard are actual photographs and attached letters/notes, which have been burned and stained. The intentions of these will be kept ambiguous and up to the viewer, but I do hope that the viewers will be able to feel the strong emotions that radiate throughout the piece, and be able to interpret all the details incorporated on a personal level. I chose this medium, because it was my first time experimenting with mixed media, and I'd have to say it is by far one of my most favorite type of medias, and something I will definitely continue doing. The subject matter is a woman, because personally I tend to revolve a lot of my works on women, and she was the most well suited in this piece to get my personal emotions across. I chose this style because it best reflected my thought process, which was kind of all over the place, and not strictly confined to one type.
