Margaret Hyde is a contemporary abstract painter/collage artist. She attended East Carolina University graduating with a degree in Interior Design which she practiced until 1998. Along the way she studied art in California at several schools, obtaining a degree in Fine Art/Drawing from Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, Ca. Her teachers include June Harwood, a member of the West Coast ‘Hard Edge’ Art Movement, who taught a loose, contemporary style. She also attended Mission Renassaince in California whose methods are based on techniques that were taught to master renaissance painters. Some other influences of her work are Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler and Rex Ray. The spiritual nature of man, truth and a higher level of awareness have been lifelong interests for her and are also strong influences on her work. She works with shape, color and line, in an abstract style, which, she says, allows her total creative license. She starts with the theme she has chosen for the series, a general composition and the colors for that piece. From there she works intuitively keeping the overall message in mind. Her aim is to use her art to inspire and encourage people in a positive way. Exhibitions include ‘Leap of Faith’ group Exhibition’ Guggenheim Gallery, Chapman University with the Orange County Visual Artists, Orange Ca . ‘Centered on the Center’ group show Huntington Beach Art Center, Huntington Beach, Ca. Seaside Gallery with the Niguel Artist’s Association,, Dana Point, Ca, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Lake Forest, Ca. Images Copyright ©Margaret Hyde 2017
