​Ronan Tipan is a Filipino-American painter from Chicago, Illinois. His passion for art started at an early age, but a moral obligation to assist his family financially caused him to put his passion aside. As a kid, he was taught to study hard and get a job, and that art was not a viable way to earn a living. While this path led him to a successful career in business, he began to wonder if he should be doing something differently. To commemorate a sentimental moment in his life, he decided to create a painting, and in that process, his passion for art was reignited. MEDIUMS / PROCESS / INSPIRATION While oil is his preferred medium, he utilizes other mediums such as charcoal, conte crayons, acrylic paints, and materials such as paper, linen, and everyday objects. ​As part of his process, Ronan creates art based on items he finds interesting, observations in his environment, or ideas that come to mind; then focusing on a specific angle, a moment, or an emotion. Other times his process is more fluid, simply getting lost in the process and letting his mind or feelings dictate where the brush takes him.
