About The Artwork

Within this work is secret symbolism. The Sun The Sun is an image from an unusual, mysterious deck of tarot cards called the Coptic Cards. This unusual image is designed to create an effect on the owner of the image. The more you look at the image the more you will see. The Sun is part of the esoteric narrative known as "The Fools Journey". The Fool wakes at dawn from his long, dark night of the soul to find that the river has deposited him in a serene pool. There is a walled garden around this pond dominated by roses, lilies and splendid, nodding sunflowers. Stepping ashore, he watches the sun rise overhead. The day is clear. The work was inspired by esoteric writing. The concept of sun worship inspired this piece I hope the viewer finds their own interpretation, whatever they see is a reflection of their own thoughts. The mediums I chose to work with are direct as to not effect the process. The process begins as a detailed direct drawing/painting then is concealed with automatic drawing, symbolism, mantras and esoteric symbolism. This was then over layered and reflected to create symmetry. This process is very similar to the creation of Sigils and incantations of shamans, mystics. It was their belief that this technique would create disruption and open up a new line of communication with the spirit world.

I was taught art at an early age by my grandfather an oil painter whom died shortly after two years of teaching me painting and draughtsmanship techniques. I have acquired other artistic skills and techniques from deep research and experimentation. Some of these experiments have explored potential breaking points of my own emotional psyche. The subjects integrated into my art pieces are based upon Eastern and Western esoteric practices. Such as shamanism, mathmatics, witchcraft, sufism, gnosticism, paganism, yoga, voodoo and others…
