About The Artwork

The canvas of nostalgia unfurls with happy memories, a tale etched in the heart of siblings who, with shared fondness, referred to their rendezvous spot as the 'hole'—a park where the simple joys of family unfolded. The backdrop is one of familial separation, with parents parting ways when the storyteller was just seven. Despite the fractures in the family structure, the 'hole' became a haven, a timeless sanctuary where the bond between siblings and their father flourished. The siblings and their parent would gather in the park's open spaces, united by the shared love for a simple, timeless pastime—kicking the footy. Laughter echoed against the backdrop of trees as the dog, a faithful companion, revelled in the joy of a good run. The 'hole' transformed into a sacred ground, a space where the complexities of life were momentarily set aside in favour of cherished moments. The memories are painted with the hues of familial love and resilience. Despite the challenges of divorce and altered family dynamics, the 'hole' stood as a testament to the enduring bonds that weathered change. Each kick of the footy and the joyous run of the dog became threads weaving a tapestry of connection and shared happiness. As time unfurls, the 'hole' remains not just a physical place but a cherished repository of nostalgia—a testament to the resilience of family ties and the enduring magic of simple, shared moments that transcend the complexities of life.

Most of these artworks were created several years ago, creatively processing the early days of learning later in life; I was Autistic (among other brain differences), and the challenges I faced when I made adjustments in my relationships based on my neurobiological differences and diverse needs. The digital artworks were created for a podcast my friend and I had together, where we unpacked our experiences as neurodivergent humans. My approach involves asking probing questions specifically created to uncover complex traumas. I developed a method of self-inquiry and introspection designed to bring awareness to one's inner world. By delving into my subconscious and exploring the reasons behind my choices, beliefs, and emotional responses, I essentially acknowledge and understand myself at a deeper level. This self-awareness is crucial in personal growth, healing, and making positive changes. I work with paint, pencil, ink, spray paint, recycled substrate, fabric, clay, and vintage materials to assist the self-understanding, acknowledging and positive change process. My work involves asking, waiting, watching, quiet listening, inner knowing, storytelling, memories and subconscious answers.
