About The Artwork

Escape into the vibrant and captivating world of African landscapes with our stunning painting, "Small Rowing Boat with African Women". Created by the immensely talented Belgian artist Jan Keteleer, this masterpiece captures the essence of Africa's fishing culture like never before. With a meticulous attention to detail, Keteleer employs a figurative expressionist style to bring this scene to life. Using acrylic paint on a sturdy panel, he skillfully captures the vibrant colors of the African scenery, depicting local fishermen and women as they embark on their daily quest for nourishment. As you gaze upon this work of art, you can almost feel the warmth of the African sun on your skin and hear the gentle lapping of the water against the boat. The vivid brilliance of the colors transports you to the heart of Africa, where life's essentials are procured with perseverance and purpose. The black wooden frame perfectly complements the artwork, adding a touch of elegance to any space. Whether it be your living room, study, or office, this piece will serve as a mesmerizing focal point that sparks conversation and enhances the ambiance of any room. But this painting offers more than just aesthetic beauty. It carries a profound message about the true essence of life. In a world constantly driven by material pursuits, "Small Rowing Boat with African Women" serves as a powerful reminder to pause and reflect on what truly matters.

From his interests in both classical art and modern / contemporary art, Belgian artist Jan Keteleer (JanKé) works with different styles. Ancient art is one of his interests, but you can also find examples of his work in pop art and impressionism. If you browse through Jan Keteleer's portfolio, you will find beautiful nature scenes, pictures of animals or pop art-based nudes. After years working in commercial photography, he turned his interest to artistic black and white photography. Projects such as Speecless, Silent Dialogues and Roots with Taboo brought him fame. He was inspired by the problems of the multicultural society in Belgium, the coexistence of different national and ethnic groups, the issue of the language barrier and the lack of dialogue between the "old" (the native population) and the "new" Belgians (the immigrants). JanKé attaches great importance to the social significance of his works and integrates them into the context of public space (stations, airports and public transport), prompting the viewer to react and reflect. His projects have received the support of the organization Sprakeloos, which aims to use art to provoke discussion on social issues. He had numerous exhibitions in Belgium (in Antwerp, Bruges, Lier, Leuven and Ghent), in the U.S. (in Dallas and San Francisco) and in Poland (in Krakow).
