About The Artwork
"Queen of Death" is a blend of different perspectives combined into one. Inspired by Latin American culture of Día de los Muertos that celebrates life and death. Colby wanted to create a romanticism connection of solidity and beauty to the concept of death. To celebrate death, life has to be present with vibrance to support grief and acceptance. Death can be beautiful, fulfilling and peaceful. It doesn't need to be portrayed as grim, horrifying and dark. This viewpoint comes deep within Colby's emotions since he witnessed his fathers death during COVID. Connecting to memories and family values honoring the life that is lost yet not forgotten. Death ends suffering, ends hardships and ends emotional stress on loved ones. The idea and concept of "Queen of Death" is beautiful, kind and relieves the burdens that life once gave so others can grow and continue to live with fulfillment without sorrow. Colby hopes others will feel an inspirational connection to this concept of death with life and can see its natural beauty that is normally disregarded.
