About The Artwork

The drawing is inspired by the biblical interpretation of Genesis chapter 3 - the fall of man, or the transition of the first man and woman from a state of innocent obedience to God to a state of guilty disobedience, as Christianity describes it. After eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which God had forbidden, Adam and Eve became ashamed of their nakedness and God expelled them from the Garden of Eden to prevent them from eating from the tree of life and becoming immortal. The doctrine of the fall is based on the original sin, corrupting the entire natural world, including human nature, a state from which humans cannot attain eternal life without the grace of God, but the representation of Eve here isolates from the typical iconography as being presented separated by Adam, during the fall, on a ray of light symbolizing her divine origins and inspiring multiple interpretations.

Born in 1982, Timişoara, Romania. Based in Timişoara, Romania. "My current artistic interest is focused on the young feminine figure, not as a portrait but as an archetypal vehicle for different human emotions as well as for certain aspects of metamorphosis. Delicate faces, nostalgic eyes searching the horizon, expressions of fear, hope, honesty, trust, disappointment, love, passion, regrets and expectations with only a glimpse of the unbreakable feminine strength behind them. I use narrative driven images with symbolic twists and turns embedded with elements from the mineral world, plants and fauna, all are interwoven to act as reflections of my personal epiphanies. My work reveals my interest in the escapism and melancholy of the 19th century Romantic aesthetics and the contemporary social environment- a melancholic attitude towards the lost spiritual values, as well as a deep interest for what lies beneath the surface of daily life."
