About The Artwork
French Impressionism is characterised by concentration on the immediate visual impression produced by a scene and by the use of unmixed primary colours and small strokes to simulate actual reflected light. While studying Claude Monet, I came across this piece by Eugene Boudin who influenced young Claude Monet. I found it captivating and tried to create the similar effects though with darker skies. My aim is to hope the viewer is able to feel the strokes without the colour.
