About The Artwork

Beltade (Beauty) graphite pencil drawing on Schoeller cardboard. this artwork is supplied with a beautiful handcrafted transparent box frame which allows to admire the front and the back of the paper, with the title and signature. The dimensions of the dypthic are 86 cm x 36 cm (33.8 x 14.3 inches) and the total dimensions with the frame are 96 cm x 45 cm x 5 cm (37,7 x 17,7 x 1,9 inches). This pencil drawing was originally conceived for an art exhibition dedicated to the theme of the Beauty. The flowers and the compass in the middle are inspired by the allegory of the Beauty, described and depicted in the famous book Iconology by Cesare Ripa, which dates back to the 1593. The allegorical figure of Beauty is depicted by Ripa as a woman with holds in her hands a compass and flowers. The compass is also symbol of perfection, anche it can draw a circle, which allude to the cosmos, word from which comes the term cosmetic, beauty. So the idea of the beauty as a human and universal order.
