About The Artwork

Broken heart as a symbol of broken feelings. You look through the shards of a broken mirror and see how you fall into small pieces after an emotional upheaval. Rose (as a symbol of love and desire) and heart - as a source of split as a result of emotional upheaval. In the center of the rose is a circle as a symbol of the life cycle of natural changes that you undergo throughout your life (in love - love - breaking up - a broken heart). Also in the center of the rose is the word HEART. This word has the word ART- as a way of expression. The word HEART consists of 5 letters. The number 5 among the ancient Greeks was a sacred symbol of light (as a symbol of hope). It symbolizes the 5th element - Ether - the all-pervading medium. Symbol of harmony in the physical world. 5 letters - 5 feelings.

Ekaterina Kunshina is a contemporary artist who was born in the vibrant city of Moscow.  Ekaterina’s journey into the world of art began from an early youth and was a seamless fusion of her innate creativity and insatiable curiosity about life’s intricate facets.  Ekaterina’s dedication to her craft led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Here she honed her technical skills and delved deeper into the conceptual aspects of her work.  Inspired by her teachers professor at the Academy of Arts Aidan Salakhova and professor at the Academy of Arts in Moscow Tatiana Nazarenko (one of Russia’s leading contemporary artists), she began experimenting with various mediums, pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression. As she progressed in her career, Ekaterina’s work became a reflection of her personal growth and evolving perspectives. Her art transformed into a dialogue between her inner world and the external environment. She draws inspiration from a myriad of sources, including literature, music, and travel. Ekaterina’s art serves as a visual exploration of the human psyche and the connections that bind us all. Through her use of color, texture, and symbolism, she invites viewers to contemplate the intricacies of human existence.  Her work often grapples with universal themes such as identity, belonging, and the passage of time. Each piece is a story waiting to be discovered, an invitation to engage in a dialogue with the artist’s own journey.
