About The Artwork

Among the mountains of Irpinia in Italy there is an abandoned town, destroyed by the earthquake many years ago. A place where nature has taken over old abandoned buildings. I have drawn and painted this place many times. I am completely in love with it. In particular, I have interpreted the front of this old Church several times, in order to capture its soul and essence on various moments of the day. It inspired me different emotions, often conflicting emotions. I’m in love with these old walls standing alone in nature. Walls made of broken bricks that hide immense green fields… During our life we feel stuck and we are facing walls that seems to be undestroyable, but often they are actually only the front of a building, hiding so many beauties… ATTENTION PLEASE: it’s very difficult to catch real colors of the artwork and the very paper. All watercolors and drawings have been scanned to have an accurate view of the details (excluding those with gold leaf). However I prefer to provide multiple references of my artworks whenever possible. So, by scrolling, you can find the close up of the image and some photos with different backgrounds. I also choose to take a picture of my artworks with an element that helps with the proportions (brush for watercolors, pencil for drawings). Thank you, Anna

I find the most intense expression of myself in the study of landscapes. Landscapes are my bridge between emotions and reality. I use landscapes in order to investigate human nature and convert feelings into something real and concrete. Everyone can identify himself in an emotion, in an atmosphere told in the narrative of a landscape. I always try to bring out the soul and the emotion from a portrait or from a close up of small things that catches my attention. I like to focus my curiosity on apparently insignificant details. And I strongly like to make people dream with me, opening gates and showing the world in the way I can see it. I’m also a great supporter of figurative art and ancient painting techniques. I use to copy old Masters’ paintings and drawings in order to stay connected with the roots of the art itself and the spirit and teachings of the great painters of the past.
