About The Artwork

With the same rhythm as the rolling waves, the village ladies rock in momentum as they heave and haul the ladened nets further towards the shore. They then squat and sort the catch, dispensing unsuitable debris that they toss back into the sea, or divide into piles for possible future use. Sea weeds are splayed and dried and minute shells are kept for decorative art wares. Even when the nets are cleared and meticulously folded, the waves keep rippling and swirling about their feet with untold treasures that they choose to keep or discard. These become their daily little bonuses from a some-times, thankless task.
