Contact us.Alexander Paul Burton is a writer, artist, and neoclassical composer whose work across fiction, philosophy, drawing, and music is unified by a sustained focus on migration, identity, and lived experience.
His writing ranges from the philosophical to the absurd, drawing on mythological and fantastical frameworks, alongside literary gay romance that prioritises emotional truth and authenticity. His work has been covered in the national press.
Every drawing is made entirely by hand in Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencil, Japanese sumi ink, and Montblanc ink on paper, with no digital intervention at any stage. Much of his figurative work grows directly out of his fiction, including the George Files and the Silverbourne Anatomy Series, and sits within a long tradition of intimate studies of the male figure. Ezekiel's Eyes, his newest series, takes its palette from the prophet's vision of wheels full of eyes, with each work paired with its own improvised piano piece, recorded live and unedited.
Burton studied at St Mary's University, Twickenham, before undertaking four years of postgraduate study in cultural studies at the University of Westminster and Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). Based in Toronto, he lives with his partner and their corgi, and holds Swiss, Canadian, and British citizenship.
Burton is a member of the Authors Guild, and his works are catalogued under ISNI 0000 0005 3018 6907 and ORCID 0009-0009-7526-9753.
