I am a self-taught contemporary artist born, raised, and based in Cape Town, South Africa. Transitioning from a background in digital animation to fine art, my practice is deeply centered on gay homoeroticism, male intimacy, and navigating daily life as a gay man. My work draws direct inspiration from homoerotic photography, exploring the raw vulnerability and quiet softness of the male form.
My physical technique relies on a dynamic use of line combined with mixed-media elements. Projecting reference images to trace the foundational outlines of the body, I use light and shadow as a guide to execute expressive, textured linework. Utilizing ink pens, brushes, calligraphy markers, acrylic paint, or color markers, my style shifts fluidly based on the form, ranging from sharp minimalist contours and solid shape-blocking to bold, vibrant color. By purposefully abstracting facial features, I strip away individual identity, transforming the figure into a visual puzzle where the viewer's own desire completes the image.
In 2023, my linework was selected out of 410 international artists by Ukrainian photographer Igor Yermakov to feature on the front cover of One Hour with the Model (Vol. 4), a global collaborative publication that went on to achieve an official World Record.
