About The Artwork

Charcoal on Fabriano Paper. A drawing expressing the essence of the free flowing movements of the male figure. A piece to meditate on, looking for the stretches of the male model. The chosen lines highlight the mountain like characteristics of the model. The link between man and nature is strong. The viewer can chose to see a mountain or a figure. The work was made at the same time as 'Mountain Man' and could compliment each other well.

At present I am studying with a collective of artists in London, often at the studios with the tutor, Dilip Sur of 'The Royal College of Art'. Previously I lived in Barcelona painting in the studios 'Mina Galleries' with other 2d artists, performance artists and dancers. Prior to this I gained a BA Hons in Art and Art History at Anglia, Cambridge under the tutor Andrew Aarons & Thomas Newbolt. Now I am working on a collection of paintings called 'Mother Nature' mixing figurative & landscapes together. I look forward to sharing my work with you. Gemma Gates
