I reckon this is probably a life-time task for myself as an artist. I would say I am a little introvert, and the fact that I am married to an extrovert does shock me from time to time. Naturally, socializing with people is essentially bringing me out of my comfort zone, however, by practising continuously, I have got to know many wonderful people and beautiful souls. I am often troubled by my limited vocabulary and articulation skills in order to truly pay compliments to those characters who impact on my life. Alternatively and fortunately, drawing & painting becomes my language to express my feeling about their stories from my lens. I sometimes portrait the same character in different media, which interestingly exposes something new and different. It is always fascinating, surprising and rewarding! Additionally, during my travels around the globe, I have encountered people from many walks of life. They too are a tremendous source of inspiration for me as an artist. I am intrigued by the rich art culture of the regions, that has the capacity to add so many layers of complexity to the residents I chose to portray.

Jack Liang Wang was born and raised in Shanghai, from an early age and under his father’s influence, Liang was trained in Chinese calligraphy for 7 years. During this extensive training, Liang was also exposed to drawing & painting which he later found to be a better art form with which to express himself and his ideas. Following his passion, he pursues part time fine-art courses and continues to be self-taught whilst creating most of his painting techniques independently. Painting is a way of meditation for Liang, that helps him to find peace and allows his emotions to flow naturally and genuinely onto the canvas. The early practice of Chinese calligraphy taught him the balance of Yin&Yang, and the beauty of the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete; whereas his other practice in industrial design and mechanical engineering has led him to a very minimalist style that nevertheless appreciates the quality of simplicity residing amongst the aesthetic essence of the subject. This appreciation is reflected in Liang’s artwork which is formed in his own style: figurative yet selectively segmented, impressionist yet minimalist. Instagram Profile:
