Red hibiscuses bloom from the darkness of their leaves like an explosion of tiny flames, and as common as they are in Los Angeles, their bright beauty still draws me in. The extraordinary can be found in the ordinary, if only we pay attention. Originally, this was the third in a series of four flower pieces I created to honor Mother's Day.
