Contact us.Susannah Weiland is a London-based artist whose practice combines tonal graphite drawing with meticulous hand embroidery. Working between observation and abstraction, she explores light, movement, atmosphere and the changing surfaces of the natural world.
Her works begin with drawing, often from direct observation of landscape, water and nature, before being transformed through hand stitching. Cotton and wool threads, beads, sequins and metallic elements build richly textured surfaces, creating a dialogue between the quiet restraint of graphite and the vibrancy of thread.
Susannah trained in Technical Hand Embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework through a QEST Scholarship and in 2026 received an Arts Council England Project Grant to undertake an intensive at the Royal Drawing School. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Broderers’ Exhibition and galleries across the UK. She is a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and the Homo Faber Guild.
